PlanNook Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026

PlanNook is a family calendar app for iPhone, made by Nook Labs (Shweta Khatri) in Canada. In this policy, "Nook Labs", "we" and "us" mean the maker of PlanNook. We built PlanNook for our own family, and we treat your family's information the way we'd want ours treated.

The short version

  • No ads. No tracking. No third-party analytics. We never sell or rent your data.
  • Your family profile and calendar live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, where we can't see them.
  • When you share a calendar or send a playdate invite, the details needed for that share are stored in a shared area of Apple's CloudKit so the other person can see them.
  • Smart typing runs on your iPhone. What you type is not sent to any AI service.
  • You can revoke shares or delete your account and all your data from inside the app at any time.

1. Information PlanNook handles

You decide what to put into PlanNook. Here is everything it can hold.

We do not collect your precise location, health data, financial information, browsing history, advertising identifiers or purchases.

2. Where it is stored

CloudKit is run by Apple, and Apple may store and process data in countries outside Canada, including the United States. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

3. When you share

Nothing is shared until you choose to share it. There are three ways, and they work differently.

4. Smart features

In this version, PlanNook turns what you type or say into calendar events on your iPhone. The text you enter for this is not sent to Nook Labs or to any outside AI service. If we ever add cloud-powered smart features, we will update this policy before we do, show you inside the app exactly what would be sent, and let you turn them off.

5. Device permissions

PlanNook asks for these only when you use the matching feature. You can change them any time in iOS Settings.

6. Children's information

PlanNook is for parents and caregivers. It is not for children to use on their own, and it is not directed to children. Children do not create accounts.

7. How we use information

Only to provide PlanNook: to show your calendar, sync it through your iCloud, find free times, create shares and invites that you ask for, respond to your support requests, keep the service secure, and meet legal obligations. We do not use your information for advertising or to build profiles.

8. Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not have advertising partners.

9. Advertising, tracking and analytics

PlanNook 1.0 contains no ads, no advertising identifier, no tracking and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. It does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you. Our website uses no cookies, trackers or third-party scripts. If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, we'll update this policy first.

10. Retention and deletion

11. Security

Your data is protected by Apple's iCloud and device security, and data moves between your device and CloudKit over encrypted connections. Share codes are 8 characters from a set of 32 and are generated randomly, and shares can expire or be revoked. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a passcode on your phone and share links and codes carefully. If a breach puts your information at real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.

12. Your choices and rights (PIPEDA)

We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its fair information principles: we are accountable for the information we handle; we tell you why we use it (section 7); we ask for your consent when you enter information and when you share; we limit what the app collects to what it needs; we use it only for those purposes; we keep it only as long as needed; we keep it accurate by letting you edit it; we protect it; we are open about our practices (this page); and you can see and challenge what we hold.

You have the right to:

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live outside Canada, you may also have rights under your local law, and we'll honour valid requests the same way.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, such as adding cloud-powered features or analytics, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
